TIBETAN DANCING SHIVA
Dancing Shiva or Nataraj is one of the most
common representations of Lord Shiva. Such a representation
is most common in the Chola style bronze statues. Here
is a very rare and unique bronze sculpture of Nataraj in the
Tibetan style. The features on his divine face with
meditative eyes and high arched brows are unmistakely Tibetan.
The ten hands, each holding either a weapon or a bell or simply
folded in a 'mudra' or position talks of the Indian
influence. The decorative arch around him is truly a piece
of good artistry. The overall effect of this beautiful Tibetan
Shiva is rather riveting.
